My pup has struggled with anal gland issues since she was about a year old, and I’ve tried essentially *everything* recommended to help resolve the problem. Glandex, psyllium husk for dogs, Boiron Silicea 6C, pumpkin, raw carrots—you name it, I’ve probably tried it! I’ve also gradually ruled out potential food allergies.
One thing that made a noticeable difference was switching her to a 50/50 combination of raw food (Steve's Raw patties) and kibble. This significantly improved the quality and firmness of her stool compared to feeding kibble alone, but it still wasn’t fully solving the issue. Every 2–3 months, that unmistakable fishy odor would return, and I’d have to take her to the vet to have her anal glands expressed. I tried to avoid having them expressed too frequently, as I was concerned that repeated manual expression could interfere with their ability to empty naturally.
I came across this product in early July and decided to give it a try. The instructions mention that it can take at least five weeks to see results, and I believe that timeline is accurate. About a month after starting the supplement, I still had to take her to the vet for an expression on August 1st. I was disappointed that it didn’t seem to be working, but I purchased another container and continued giving it to her, figuring it might simply need more time to take full effect.
Now, we’re almost 12 weeks out from her last anal gland expression, and I haven’t noticed any fishy odor at all. Under normal circumstances, I would typically start noticing the odor around the two-month mark, even though I’d try to hold off until months three or four before taking her to the vet. So far, I’m genuinely encouraged by the results and feel like this product may actually be making a difference. I’m hopeful that I’ve finally found something that will help her glands empty naturally and prevent the recurring issues we’ve been dealing with for years. I know every dog is different, but based on our experience so far, I’m cautiously optimistic and would highly encourage anyone dealing with similar issues to give this product a go!
